Ty Freeman, above all else, is a man of the people. Outside of music, he has a genuine passion for working in his community and mentoring young people. That same desire to connect with people is at the heart of his music.
Ty's relationship with music began at a young age. As a child, he would sing around the house, often hearing his parents tell him to “hush that noise.” For a while, he believed he simply could not sing. But instead of giving up, he kept practicing—and over time, he found his voice.
His sound is rooted in soul, R&B, jazz, and the unmistakable feel of 90s R&B. Influenced by artists such as Luther Vandross and Dave Hollister, as well as the musical legacy of his late mother, Ty has developed a style that blends soulful vocals with the grit and character of the South that is sure to touch your spirit.
For Ty, music is about more than making a song. It's about telling a story and reaching people in their souls. His songs draw from his own experiences as well as stories and experiences shared by the people around him. He sees music as one of the most beautiful forms of expression, and some of his favorite moments happen when he is surrounded by other musicians.
Ty is also deeply involved in the creative process behind his music. As a graduate of Full Sail University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Production, he produces much of his own sound. Earning that degree was also personal: it allowed him to fulfill a promise he made to his late mother to earn his bachelor's degree. His late father left him with another lesson that continues to shape the man he is today: live with integrity and go after your dreams.
Ty isn't chasing fame simply for the sake of being the next big thing. He's building something meaningful—creating music for the people who connect with it, finding the right audience for his sound, and creating a better future for his family.
His goal is to be heard and to inspire.
